Derek hadn’t had anything to do , or was even away when Henry passed but he wasn’t oblivious. He had seen the separation it had caused between a few of the doctors and after her only being cleared for a month or so he was still keeping a close eye on Teddy. With Idle hands he opened the door leading into the X-ray room and saw Teddy. “You look like you could use a friend.”
Starting at the sound of another voice, Teddy quickly wiped away the tears she’d let fall in a weaker moment. She thought she’d have been safe here – safe to grieve; safe to feel all the things she was trying so hard not to. “Look, I’m not in the mood,” Teddy said softly, not meeting Derek’s eyes. “I just want to be alone right now.”
But what she was saying wasn’t the truth at all – she wanted nothing more than for somebody to hold her, but she was so damn scared that they’d see just how lonely she was. She’d barely been cleared for surgery as it was, and she wasn’t about to put her only solace on the line again.
