Jake wasn’t sure what was really going on. He did know that his head was pounding, his chest felt so, extremely heavy and everything else hurt just as much. It hurt to think or even breathe at this point, and he didn’t like these feelings at all.

His eyes fluttered open on their own accord and much to his dismay. He just wanted to go back to sleep. Jake was met with the golden blonde hair of Teddy as his vision cleared. He let out a sound that he’d meant to be a hello, but his throat wasn’t really cooperating yet.

At first, Teddy didn’t realize that the moment she’d been waiting on for so long had finally come. She’d spent so long wishing the same things that her wishes were nothing but empty now — she wanted to spare herself the disappointment of looking up, only to find that she’d imagined it.

But this was real. This was him. Jake had finally come home to her, after all the waiting. As the realization set in, the look on Teddy’s face was one of unspeakable joy and relief — and a thousand years of worry fell from her shoulders in a single, fleeting moment.
