Laughing  in  spite  of  herself,  Teddy   rolled
her eyes: “You must be  s o  far in the clouds
if  you  don’t  even  remember  them  sticking
you  with  a   huge-ass   29-gauge.”   But   her
laughter didn’t last  long,  for  Arizona’s  next
words  sobered  her  like  nothing  else could. 

                   Aaron  —  Teddy hadn’t asked, but she knew
                  better than to hope. These people, they never
                  left  without their own; if he hadn’t been in the
                  back  of  the  truck with Arizona, the chances
                  that   he   made   it   were   slim   to    n o n e .
