These Dreams Of Mine || Teddy and Henry

Henry placed the cup back on the nightstand turning around to Teddy wrapping her arms tightly around him, he did the same to her, his hand gripping around her shoulder as his other hand rested along her neck. His voice now in a quite tone as if to convey some sort of safety.

“You married me. You saved my life. You didn’t give up even when I gave up on myself. If it wasn’t for you who knows where I’d be.” Henry pulled back locking his gaze upon hers. “If anyone here doesn’t deserve someone its me.”

When Henry had met Teddy he had little to no one, and Henry made sure to tell her that anytime he got the chance. He might have been all laughs and smiles every time he walked into the hospital but that was only because he was a ‘glass is half full’ kind of guy, because if he wasn’t he would have given up on the surgeries a long time ago. Which is what he would have done if he hadn’t met Teddy.

Going quietly into all the love and warmth Henry had to offer her, Teddy felt herself breathe easy once again. In his arms, all the hurt whispered away like dandelions on the wind. And with a world of truth in her words, Teddy could say with conviction: “I’m not the one who saved your life. You were the one who saved mine. You save me, Henry — every day, you save me from myself.”

She knew all too well the insecurity Henry hid behind the laughter in his eyes; deep down, she knew he doubted his will to live. Spending a lifetime in sickness rather than in health was something Teddy hadn’t truly let herself believe, for she’d always had faith in him. So when Henry talked of giving up, Teddy was quick to hush him.

“Shh. Don’t you go talking of giving up. God knows I’ve kept on fighting, even though I’m scared as hell and I don’t know if I’ll make it half the time. If you give up, I know I will too.”
