❝ –– perhaps it’s true that things can change in a day. and when they do, those few dozen hours, like the salvaged remains of a burned house—the charred clock, the singed photograph, the scorched furniture—must be resurrected from the ruins and examined. and suddenly, they become the bleached bones of a story.
When Teddy had replied with they were fine, she sighed in relief, they were okay. Losing Aaron was hard, he was one of her close friends on her team and that was hard, very hard. But, she was super glad that no-one else had passed away, she did have a feeling that a lot of them were hurt though.

But you’ve got nothing to worry about because I’m here Teds and I ain’t going away any time soon. You’ve got me forever. And if I wasn’t currently covered in blood from head to toe, then it’d definitely be opening my arms for you to come and join me in this bed for a snuggle but I’m too bloody and broken right now I’m sorry, very soon though”. she smiled lightly in reply, her smile not just reaching her eyes just yet but she knew Teddy would understand she meant sincerity.

felt s a f e ; home was in Henry’s arms, warm in his embrace — and ever
since he died, Teddy had felt nothing more than homeless. The months she’d
spent watching her back ever since she’d got here had settled heavily upon her
shoulders, and it’d driven her into a darkened state she could have sworn had
aged her twenty years.
Shaking it off, Teddy muttered: “Let’s just make sure you don’t get an infection from that shrapnel.”
