To Know A Man || Jake and Teddy

Jake walked along with Teddy through the large guitar store, searching for the perfect one. He knew exactly what he was looking for, now it was a matter of finding it. Picking up a pink guitar, he tested it out and then put it right back with distaste. That wouldn’t do. Jake picked up another one but it was too small. He went through three more guitars until he settled on an atomic pink guitar for Delia. He never once eyed the prices.

He didn’t care about it, if he was completely honest, “Okay. This one’s perfect for her. Right size, right shape, and durable. The fret-board isn’t too wide, the sounds really good and we can put nylon strings on it so that her fingers don’t get cut with the steel. What do you think, babe? I want to get it engraved now too. Put her name on the side of it.”

“You don’t have to do this, you know,” Teddy smiled, sliding her small hand into Jake’s. “Delia will be more than happy already. But I’m with you on the nylon strings.” She didn’t know it was possible, but she only loved Jake more for caring about her daughter so much. If anything, it seemed as though Jake treated Delia like his own little girl.

Picking up the flashy pink guitar to try it out, Teddy happened to catch sight of the price tag. Gasping, she replaced it hastily upon the rack. “Jesus, Jake, that’s like a two weeks’ pay right there. Who knew guitars could be so expensive?”
