The Light || Jake and Teddy

“Do we know what we’re having?”

Jake gently rubbed her belly with his hand and he whispered softly to Teddy, “Shh, it’s alright. Don’t worry about that now. You won’t have to worry about that, Teddy. Because I’m home now, baby and everything will be alright…”

Standing back up slowly, Jake carefully cupped his wife’s face. His eyes bore into hers, love radiating from his own and he sighed contently. He was home. Jake leaned in and carefully captured Teddy’s lips in a slow, deep kiss. And goodness he’d missed his wife.

“I haven’t had my first ultrasound yet,” Teddy admitted, shame and regret coloring her voice. “I’ve already failed this kid; I know. But there’s nothing I can do about that now…”

Feeling the safety she’d lost for so long touch her with ease, Teddy was nearly swept off her feet. It’d never felt so strong, this love she had for him — and once Jake was holding on to her, Teddy didn’t want him to ever let go.

At home in his arms and in her heart, Teddy returned the kiss with a desperate passion that warmed her to the bone. And all those pieces that had fallen out of place when Jake had left her? This was the first step she would take in putting them back together.
