Jake smiled warmly at her, “That’s okay. There are no rules out there saying we can’t start backwards.”
He didn’t move his arms from around her mainly because he wasn’t ready to, and he kissed her nose before responding, “I like anything as long as it’s not horror. There’s something about being scared half to death just for the heck of it that doesn’t seem appealing to me,” the doctor laughed and then asked, “What about you?”
“I agree,” Teddy said, amused. Something about Jake’s aversion to the typical endeared him to her; he was strong in a better way, the kind of brave that didn’t make a big deal out of itself. If there was anything she liked about this man she barely knew, it was this.
