Needing Her Help || Derek and Teddy

drderekshepherd-seattle:

Derek knew he was being rushed down the hallway. No one seemed to realize it was him yet. All he was hearing was someone near his head calling him John Doe. “I’m not John Doe. Its Derek. Derek Shepherd. Why hasn’t anyone realized who I am yet?” He said in his head. Why couldn’t he talk? It was then he noticed Teddy. He was scared of what was happening to him. He couldn’t communicate with her or any of the others that were around. He could hear the familiar voices but kept his eyes on Teddy. He was trying to stay awake but it was getting so difficult. Derek was looked over by the doctors as they took him to a trauma room. Before they even looked over him properly, it was obvious he needed surgery. Derek kept his eyes on Teddy. He wanted to reach out for her but it was like his brain wasn’t letting his body do what he wanted it to do. He was still staring at her when he lost consciousness before going in to cardiac arrest.

“Someone page the Chief!” Teddy yelled, snatching the paddles off the cart without a moment’s hesitation. When she looked at Derek, she no longer saw her colleague; no, she saw the father of two children, a brother — she saw a husband, someone whose wife would never forgive her if she let him slip through her fingers. She wouldn’t — couldn’t — let that happen. Not if she was going to live with herself afterwards. “Charge to three hundred! Clear!”

Come on, Teddy prayed. She was never one to call upon a higher being than herself, for she believed that the lesser god who let her husband die was not worth praying to — but right then, she needed the strength. “Derek, stay with me, you hear me? You are not dying! Your wife and kids need you, and I’m not going to let you leave them!”
