“I need to go, I need to see my mommy and daddy.” Ellis spoke in a rushed tone as she sat on the ER bed. The car crash that had hit her fathers car with Ellis, her mother, and Derek all inside had landed them all in the emergency room and Ellis was more scared than ever being separated from her parents. “Please, please, let me go.” She spoke even though the cuts on her body had yet to even be looked at.
“Shh, it’s alright,” Teddy soothed, though she could promise no such thing. “It’s all going to be alright. Do you remember me? I’m Teddy — I’m a doctor, and I’m going to take care of you. Meanwhile, there are other doctors that will take care of your mom and dad, okay?” Placing a hand on her shoulder, Teddy led Ellis to a quieter place — somewhere the noise of the ER wouldn’t reach them.
