Jake reached out past her and closed the window shade, “It’s very nice to meet you, Teddy…. Hey, look at me, everything will be fine,” he promised in a soothing tone. “What do you do for work?” he asked to get her mind off flying.
“I’m a doctor, too. Former army medic, actually…” Teddy rambled, trying to keep the breathlessness out of her voice. Not that Jake would have known she was a doctor if she hadn’t told him — if there was one thing she lived by, it was that a surgeon should never show her fear.
