Jake laughed softly and shook his head, “It’s fine. I’m just glad to be home…” He found her car easily and once there, he leaned her against it, his hands instantly dropping down to her stomach, “I can’t wait to get home and get to talk to this little one, and it not look weird,” he laughed again and kissed Teddy’s forehead, “I love you.”
How could he be so calm? How could he be so composed about all of this when Teddy’s mind was reeling? It took all of her will to keep her hands steady as she fumbled the key to the ignition; yet, her gaze didn’t once waver from his. There was something grounded about Jake’s dark eyes, the way they held her in a smile — they couldn’t have made her feel safer.
And for that, she would never be able to thank him.
