It takes two || Owen & Teddy

Owen laughed. “I know. Trust me. I know. It was a shock to the both of us.  And yes, the very same Cristina you taught. She’s still feisty as shit but she’s also a wonderful Mum. It’s a little hard to believe but she did it. And she did it because she wanted to, not because I pushed her. Right now though, she’s in LA at a Cardio conference.” He grabbed a couple boxes of cereal and threw them into his cart. There was a lot he wanted to tell her. At one point in their lives, they had been best friends and told each other everything. Now, however, Owen wasn’t entirely sure he even knew her anymore. “So…you’re back in Seattle…Why..would you come back here of all places?”

The truth? Teddy had nowhere else to go. Of course, she couldn’t say that. Lie after lie auditioned in her mind, but she settled on a slight falsehood.

“I guess… the people here are the only people I can count on. You do know that my folks aren’t the supportive type, right?”

It was true; if Teddy were to return home after twenty years of quickly dropped calls and ripped-up cards, she’d be kicked to the curb within moments of touching the tarnished doorbell.
