Owen sighed heavily. “Well I hope it was easier for you because it sure wasn’t for us.” He scratched his head, unsure if he wanted to continue this particular subject right in the cereal isle. Owen had a lot of pent up anger for some of his so called friends and he knew how inappropriate it would be to let it out now. He took a breath. “Whatever. I guess it doesn’t matter anymore.” Owen turned away from her and started pushing his cart up the isle. It was surreal seeing Teddy again. He’d missed her terribly and wished that she’d kept contact with him. Owen had wanted to call her and tell her what was going on in his life and while he’d tried, the number hadn’t worked. He supposed that was what helped his old friendship with Arizona. She had been there through some of the crap. Now he just felt alone.
“Owen-”
The emotion that rose like a tide in Teddy’s chest as she watched Owen walk away was too much to bear. How had her closest friend turned on her, and how could she have turned on him? Standing alone in the aisle, all she could think of was what she could’ve said but didn’t.
So many regrets.
